Tough question! Like you, I wasn’t much of a reader. But your question takes me back to discovery of Matthew Arnold’s “Dover Beach” A college contemporary philosophy course required reading the works of Franz Kafka. To this day, Kafka’s The Trial, the collection called Parables and Paradoxes, The Metamorphosis, and other works represent th internal yearnings and struggles not only Josef K but of my most honest self. Thanks for asking.
